Alex's Tech Thoughts

There is an unspoken hierarchy of paying for things in the startup universe. I’ve experienced it a few times and have had some laughs with people about it.
The hierarchy for who pays for things typically goes like this:
1a) Startup Lawyer
1b) Startup VC (lawyer and VC are usually on same level)
2) Big Technology Corporation Employee
3a) Venture-Backed Startup CEO/Founder
3b) Venture-Backed Startup Employee
4) Bootstrapped Startup (founder or employee)
5) Startup Reporter
Scenarios when this comes into play (obviously sometimes people just split the bill): group cab ride, breakfast, lunch, dinner, coffee, etc.
Have you been in this scenario and have had a different outcome?
